Eventually, on the river Atmata alluvial land areas increased, so village fell away from the lagoon and the main watercourse of the river became Minija. Since 1601 there was an inn, and after about a century a primary school was built.

In nineteenth century here was established sail sewery and sailing boat workshop, also were established water measurement station, post office, pharmacy, where Lithuanian books were sold. It is interesting that there were no streets in the village - the transportation was by boat. Mingė population then were mostly fishermen, who gathered and sold reed for roof making.
