Šventoji invites you to celebrate the National Day in RETRO style – meaningfully, sing-songly, Lithuanian
Summer is the best time to return to the times when melodies sounded from records, and evenings breathed romance and elegance. For the fourth time, Šventoji will become like a musical time machine – the retro music festival “La mer” invites everyone who misses sincere Lithuanian hits to remember the legendary Stasys Povilaitis and immerse themselves in a sea of songs, dances and nostalgia.
This year, the festival “La mer” is dedicated to the memory of the legendary Lithuanian pop singer Stasys Povilaitis. The event is symbolically held on the occasion of the National Day – July 6, when the coronation day of King Mindaugas is commemorated and the National Anthem is sung all over the world. The festival program includes Lithuanian music concerts, dance group performances and joint sing-alongs.

Sing-along "Not Just Retro"
On the eve of the State Day, July 5th at 7:30 p.m., the festival's sponsors - the Palanga Cultural Center's women's vocal retro ensemble "Eldija" - together with a group of stage friends invite you to a sing-along "Not Just Retro".
This evening is like a prelude to the main day of the festival. This is not only a musical event, but also an evening of fellowship, creative sharing and live musical dialogue between groups from different regions of Lithuania. The event will take place in the exclusive hall of the entertainment center "Eldija", which breathes a true retro spirit - its atmosphere will naturally enhance the mood of the evening.
During the evening, Lithuanian retro-style compositions, romances and songs loved by listeners will be performed, which will invite you to sing together, remember and rediscover the old stage.
Participating:
- Šilalė District Municipality Cultural Center dance group “Mainytinis” – dances imbued with folk traditions and retro playfulness;
- Priekulė Art and Culture Center vocal ensemble “Agluona” – will subtly convey the mood of the old stage;
- Tauragė Cultural Center mixed vocal ensemble “Dar pabūkim” – their program combines nostalgic sound and modern expression;
- Palanga Cultural Center vocal retro ensemble “Eldija” – will present a carefully selected repertoire reflecting the era and spirit of the genre.

Main festival concert “La mer”
On July 6, the main festival concert will take place at Šventoji Pedestrian Square. The event will begin with a concert program “Sea of Musical Sounds”, which will include neither dancing nor live music.
At 8:00 p.m., the group “Cappella‘A” will take the stage, whose repertoire is closely related to the Lithuanian retro sound. The group has performed with Stasis Povilaitis on several occasions, so their performance will become not only a part of the musical program, but also a symbolic bridge between the past and the present.
At exactly 9:00 p.m., together with all of Lithuania and Lithuanians around the world, we will sing the National Anthem – a symbol of the feeling of national unity. After this solemn moment, the festival will continue with an evening of Lithuanian retro music, hosted by DJ Vladas. He has prepared a special program of the best Lithuanian hits for this evening.
In the festival area, you will be able to get acquainted with interesting facts about the life and work of Stasis Povilaitis. Authentic posters from the singer's archives will also be exhibited - they were kindly lent by the Palanga Concert Hall.
All festival participants are invited to dress up in retro style accents and Lithuanian paraphernalia. The festival "La mer" aims not only to cherish the heritage of Lithuanian pop music, but also to gather people for a common musical experience - a celebration that merges the past, present and the unified power of song.
